I've known these two for what feels like forever, so when Brooke reached out to book a session, I was so excited. Little did I know, it wasn't just any session it was their baby announcement.
There was so much emotion woven into every part of that evening. You could feel the excitement, the love, and all of the anticipation that comes with becoming parents. It brought me right back to when I was pregnant with my son, Luke. We talked about all the things that come with pregnancy the nerves, the unknowns, what they thought they were having and honestly, you could tell the gender didn't matter one bit. They were simply excited for this new adventure they were about to begin together. Their announcement session took place at my favorite willow tree, and it couldn't have been more perfect. Watching them soak in that season of life had me completely in awe.
What felt like just a few short months later, we were meeting again for their maternity session. We spent more time talking about what they were expecting, and I gave Brooke every piece of advice I wish someone had given me before I went into labor. I swear we could have sat there talking for hours. At one point, I was scrolling through a few images I'd just taken and showed them the back of my camera. I'll never forget Kyle looking at them and saying, "Wow... your camera takes such good photos." Before I could even respond, Brooke looked at him and said, "It's not just the camera, Kyle." 😂 Thank you for keeping him in check, Brooke.
Then, before we knew it, I was walking into their home to meet the newest member of their family Baby Kash.
This is the part of my job that I'll never take for granted. Being invited into these milestones, watching families grow, celebrating the big moments and the quiet ones in between it means more to me than I could ever put into words. I love getting to share whatever advice, reassurance, or encouragement I can along the way, but mostly, I love simply being there. I'll celebrate with you when you're laughing, cry with you when you're overwhelmed, and be fully present for every chapter of your story.
Brooke & Kyle, thank you for trusting me to document one of the most beautiful seasons of your lives. It has been such an honor, and I can't wait to keep watching your little family grow.

WHERE LOVE STORIES
If you've been here for a while, you probably already know I'm Jessica—mom to my sweet little boy, Luke, who is happiest when he's outside getting dirty, exploring, or tagging along on whatever adventure we can find.
What you may not know is that Luke is the biggest reason this photography journey even started.
Back in early 2024, I bought my very first camera. At the time, I had every intention of using it for milestone photos of Luke, hunting trips, outdoor adventures, birthdays for all seven of my nieces and nephews... and that was about it.
Well... that camera sat in its case collecting dust for months.
I had absolutely no idea how to use it.
The first time I actually pulled it out was in January of 2025 for Luke's one-month photos. I quickly realized I still had no clue what I was doing, packed it right back up, and called it a day. 😂
As the weather warmed up, I was getting ready to head back to work while Luke started going to my mom's during the day. (Bless her soul.) At that point, I was deep in postpartum depression and honestly just trying to find something that made me feel like myself again.
For years I'd joked that I'd love to start a little photography business someday, but I always followed it with, "I don't know the first thing about a camera."
This time, though, I was desperate for something that brought me joy.
So I did what everyone does—I lived on TikTok. I watched every photography video I could find, took notes, practiced, and slowly started figuring things out.
By June, I finally convinced myself to just go for it.
I recruited my friend Ashley and her kids for my very first practice session. Looking back, I couldn't have picked a more chaotic first shoot. Ashley hates being in front of the camera, her son wanted absolutely nothing to do with pictures, and her toddler daughter had just been woken up for the session.
Honestly... it was perfect.
Somewhere in the middle of all that chaos, I completely fell in love with it.
Afterward, I spent hours editing those images. I clicked every button imaginable, adjusted colors, played with settings, masked things without fully understanding what masking even meant, and just kept learning as I went.
That session changed everything.
It also made me realize I needed a better camera.
So I upgraded my gear and started offering free sessions. After just a handful of families, I realized this was so much more than taking pictures. I loved meeting new people, laughing with complete strangers who somehow didn't feel like strangers by the end of the session, and getting to witness the love every family shared in their own unique way.
I built my first website, started my photography page, and posted every single day. I remember getting five or ten likes on a post and thinking I had absolutely made it. Hitting 100 followers felt like the biggest accomplishment in the world.
Never in a million years did I imagine that this little hobby would become my full-time career.
Today, I get to stay home with Luke while doing something I genuinely love. I get to freeze moments that families will look back on for years to come, and I still have so much to learn and so much room to grow.
Every family that's trusted me, every session I've photographed, every kind word, share, recommendation, and ounce of support has helped get me here. None of it has ever gone unnoticed.
I'll never forget those first sessions, the families who took a chance on me, or the people who believed in me before I fully believed in myself.
